My name is Bill. I have been catching snakes
in the northern VA area for over 40 years. I have caught
almost every indigenous species in the area, including
copperheads and timber rattlesnakes. The most common snakes in
the DC Metro area are blacksnakes, garter (3 yellow stripes),
and brown snakes. The timber rattlesnakes are farther west in
the mountains. All are non-poisonous and harmless (Note:
there are no water moccasins in Northern Virginia).
